The beginning of an artistic journey often lies hidden in a fleeting moment—an unexpected spark that changes everything. For Maria Sevastre, such a moment unfolded sixteen years ago on a crisp autumn day. Standing on the threshold of discovery, she encountered a painter and architect whose passion radiated with such intensity that it ignited an inner calling. Watching him work, fully absorbed in the creation of a new piece, became the catalyst. With curiosity and courage, she asked to borrow a canvas. That single gesture—spontaneous and instinctive—became the first step into a world that would grow into her lifelong vocation.
Encouraged by her mentor’s words and inspired by the early promise of two completed works, Maria immersed herself in courses and explorations of different methods and techniques. Each new experience opened fresh perspectives, gradually shaping a distinctive language of expression where abstraction and realism intertwine.
Today, Maria’s practice is guided by visions—sometimes dreamed, sometimes glimpsed in the shifting skies or infinite galaxies above. Clouds, stars, and cosmic forms merge with traces of earthly reality, resulting in works that invite both wonder and introspection. In their presence, viewers are prompted to reflect on their own place within the vast universe, often with a visceral sense—goosebumps that signal connection.
The title Real Abstract encapsulates this approach: a play of opposites, a dialogue between illusion and presence. It reflects Maria Sevastre’s pursuit of balance between the abstract and the real, a testament to how inspiration born in a single autumn afternoon continues to expand into an ever-evolving exploration of form, emotion, and meaning.
